Inspection case study

Problem

As part of a shift towards more modern construction methods, prefabricated elements and the associated factory witness testing became a critical hold-point and interface in the construction process. The witness testing component became even more important as travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic created a Health & Safety risk and made regular factory visits infeasible.

Scope

To overcome the many restrictions and constraints created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Main Contractor and XYZ Reality collaborated to redefine Factory Witness Testing procedures. This included:

• Bringing the Factory Witness Testing to site by creating a designated inspection zone
• Remote streaming the inspection captured by The Atom AR headset and viewed through HoloSite to maximise visibility for relevant parties
• Incorporating interfacing elements into the inspection
