Errors made during the installation of mechanical equipment can lead to serious site disruptions. The Atom identified mistakes before critical lifting equipment was removed.
Large equipment, mechanical and electrical alike, are logistically challenging and resource-intensive to install. They require immense coordination efforts before installation and are typically prioritised as the main activity on the day of installation. Post-installation, they are fixed and then connected to all interfacing elements ready for commissioning. Errors during this installation can lead to serious site disruptions.
Scope of Works
A mechanical package manager for The Main Contractor deployed The Atom to inspect a key HVAC location of the pharmaceutical plant. The inspection was used to assess AHUs and dehumidifiers being installed to the correct location and to ensure no clashes with upcoming interfacing ductwork.
The mechanical sub-contractor installers used 2D drawings to set out and position the two dehumidifiers in the area. However, the drawings did not contain all the relevant information and were incorrectly installed by the team- within the correct footprint but in the opposite orientation.
By using The Atom to inspect this installation, The Main Contractor and the sub-contractor team identified and corrected the mistake before critical lifting equipment was removed and interfacing works were installed. Our build it right, first time ethos saved valuable time on the schedule and rework costs from the budget.
