For structural concrete, any error outside of construction tolerances requires an engineering redesign and often involves costly and timely remedial...

The fibre cables are the engines that run the data centres and what makes these projects mission critical. It is therefore crucial that the fibre cable ductwork is built right the first time to avoid unnecessary strain on the cabling caused by:
- Incorrect pop-up locations
- Cable deformation and breakages
Scope of Works
The client team identified the fibre cable ductwork as the most critical component of their early works packages and used The Atom to complete on-site inspections before and during the installations to ensure that each length of ductwork was installed within tolerances. Key components for inspection include:
- Pop-up locations critical for connecting into data racks
- Ductwork sweep restrictions in order to allow the cabling to pass
- Ductwork straightness tests to avoid adding strain to the cables.
The fibre cable ductwork installation went smoothly with all discrepancies easily identified in real-time and corrected prior to encasing them in concrete. While using The Atom, site teams could easily detect when the ductwork runs were misaligned or where the pop-up locations were incorrectly set-out.
By proactively completing the necessary adjustments during the installation, the site team avoided reactive tendencies. These errors would have typically only been noticed at a later stage during the data rack installation and where redesign and rework would have been disastrous for the project.
